The Food Pantry is a 501.c.3 charity for income tax purposes
Volunteers are always needed and appreciated
Donations of food are appreciated. However, we have a partnership with Central Texas Food Bank which enables us to use monetary donations to purchase food at a substantial discount, effectively enabling us to maximize the "bang for your donated buck" to serve people in our community.
For example: a 24 can case of green beans cost us only a few dollars which allows your monetary donations to go very far. By comparison, a single can of green beans at the grocery store can cost approximately 90 cents.
Funding Sources Operational funding for the food Pantry comes from various sources. Local service organizations, businesses, local churches, and generous and caring individuals make donations on a regular basis. Bastrop County and the City of Smithville also provide contributions to our operation. The monetary donations we receive allow us to purchase low-cost food from the Central Texas Food Bank of Austin. We also receive food donations from Bastrop HEB and Bastrop and LaGrange HEB and Walmart.
Any food donations or monetary donations can be dropped off on Wednesday mornings between 9:00 AM-11:30 AM at our facility or the Smithville Public Library during their normal hours.
Monetary donations can also be mailed to: Smithville Food Pantry P.O. BOX 433 Smithville, TX 78957
The Smithville Food Pantry is a member of Amazon Smile (smile.amazon.com) where the AmazonSmile foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to our registerd organization. You can also make donations by Paypal.
